In 2007. ICM created a new outrech for the young men in our community. We have realized that many of our boys inour church and community grow up without their fathers or other Christian men in their lives. Given the high dropout rate, crime rates and other problems associated with boys who grow up in fatherless homes, the men of ICM have decided to MENtor boys in our church and community without fathers. Last year, a MENtor volunteer taught the boys the first Sunday of each month. The boys were taught spiritual skills and how to handle the changes of going from boyhood to manhood. The MENtors also took the boys on several outings. This year, the MENtors will continue to teach the boys the first Sunday of each month. This year's theme is responsibility. The boys will learn spiritual and personal responsibility. The men are currently planning quarterly outings for their MENtees. MENtors are responsible for making sure their MENtee works hard in school, home and church. If you are interested in learning more about this program, please visit us with your son (age 5-17) the first Sunday of each month or email Terry Butler terrence.butler@countryfinancial.com for more information.
The men of Boys to MENtor will be having their quarterly outing this month at the movies to see Speed Racer and/or Iron Man. If you would like your son to attend and participate in this event, please email ICMDIR@AOL.COM with the subject line Boys to MENtor.
